Yes, Hatteras was getting too crowded. Eleuthera is not like Nassau, but is ideal for Hatteras type of people. Lots of beautiful beaches and crystal clear water. My favorites are French Leave and Surfers Beach.
YES, you will have to show your papers to visit.

I'll add it to my list. Have a great time!

Yellow crowned night heron? We have them in Hatteras but this one had coffee with me this morning in Eleuthera.

Nice picture! Had to lookup Eleuthera. Are you on vacation there?

Looks like you managed to fit into the narrow window between opening and now closing down the Bahamas. We have a trip planned to Exuma in February and I'm starting to wonder if that will happen. Hope you make (made) it back home safely!

Took the day off and paddled around Lake Galena in one of my Kayaks. It's been well over a year since I've been out paddling. Saw plenty of wildlife including Blue Herons (lots of them), painted turtles, cormorants, and a pair of bald eagles. I couldn't get close enough to the eagles to get any good pictures. Just a couple of blurry BIF's and a couple from in a tree about 1/4 mile away.

Our nightly visitor. I see these guys almost every night starting in late August through September. We’re pretty much on the same page... it stays over there and my dog and I stay over here. Sometimes there’s a boundary dispute and my dog and I wait it out until our buddy moves on.

Wife got this in mid gulp

Hi! Just found this forum. I have been looking at properties on the North end of the islands.

Visitors in May.

Not a great picture (through a sliding glass door about 200 feet away), but it's something I've never seen before.

A blue heron stalking and snagging a field mouse (I think, might be a vole).

RE: Nature

This year, instead of just draping a net over the pond, I built a frame out of pvc and tied the netting to it. Seems to be working so far.
