I would like to rent an oceanfront house in mid June for < $3000 with an ocean view in a quiet area. We are only 3 people. No motel/condos/duplex's. Should I look at a different beach area? Topsail, Kure, Carolina beach, ect. I'm browsing the usual realty websites and not seeing much to choose from. The ones I'm seeing are hideous inside. Why does anyone use wicker furniture in the living room!! Are some houses not yet listed for 2018 season?? Picking seems sparse...

I'm no expert but honestly I have trouble finding an Oceanfront house in September for less than $3000. But i mostly stay in the Northern Beaches. What area are you interested in? Do u have to be Oceanfront or is just an ocean view OK? I've stayed in this house in kitty hawk. It's small with incredible views. You are right on the beach. Beachgal, Seafoam Sally is a cute house with amazing views! This looks like it would be a crowded area in mid to late June. Is that accurate? Ocean Blue is very nice! Thanks for posting! I am now finding more houses in Hatteras. I am not a fan of Corolla. Beachmark, I had not seen that house. I'm putting on the list for consideration! Thanks so much!! It seems some houses are not yet released for summer 2018. Does anyone know when this generally happens?

We stayed there this year and would have booked it again but the week we needed was taken. Easy access to the beach and the area was very quiet. Thank you NRT! It is a nice house, but I don't want a view of other houses. I'd really like nothing b/w me and the beach. The 3rd week of June is my and my daughter's birthday. (My last one in my 40's. ) So, we're trying to do something special.

You may want to also check Midgett really and Hatteras Realty sites. Each has over a dozen homes that fir your perimeters. It's quite easy to run a search for OF and the date and price

It seems some houses are not yet released for summer 2018. Does anyone know when this generally happens? glamazon I don't know about whole houses being 'released' for 2018, but leases for pre-reserved weeks in 2018 have been out for some time. As I understand it, most leases need to be signed by Jan 1st; if a pre-reserved week is not 'claimed' with a signed lease by then, then that week goes back on the market. So I'd keep my eyes on this in the next 2 weeks or so.

Judy, I think I just freaked out too soon. I did the search with Sun and Southern Shores, our usual, and didn't see much at all. I got sceered I couldn't find anything. You're right. There are some to choose from w/ different agencies. It just takes some looking. Thanks for everyone's input!

I think that for the most part beach front homes tend to book up fast. Especially ones in your price range. If you find something to your liking you better book it quickly or you may be out of luck.

Carolina Calm I agree. The reason you are having trouble with your normal agencies is that you are searching for a very scarce rental that is high demand. Most of the affordable OF homes rent 51 weeks in advance, basically as soon as they are released by the agencies, assuming that the current year renter doesn’t keep it for the next year. I saw it myself this year. I booked 51+ weeks in advance for a low-cost OF in Duck. Other houses that I was looking at also booked up that same week. My first payment was due in November, FWIW.

Look at this smaller house, beach front in Frisco. You should have the beach almost to yourself. This was was one of the houses we were looking at for late June. $2825 for mid June. Look at this smaller house, beach front in Frisco. You should have the beach almost to yourself. This was was one of the houses we were looking at for late June. $2825 for mid June. It’s great for plane watching; it’s just off the centerline to runway 7 at Billy Mitchell, so occasionally you hear a plane (the airport has very little traffic, max 10 operations a day maybe, and is closed after dark) pass by.

If you've decided on an Outer Beaches Realty property they are running a discount special (5% off up to $800. NOT all homes participate in this program) Rent for 2018 by booking in 2017 (so by end of day) . Just a heads up, and not meant to influence your choice.

Whaler, I did look at the OBX owners home as I would like to support the owners here who are so helpful. However, I either couldn't afford it, or it wasn't what I was looking for. I may have to adjust my must have list. Oh well!

I agree on the plane watching, and every once in a while we'll get an airshow from Marine V-22 Ospreys, U-28A (special forces Pilatus), and T-6 Texan II trainers, as well as USCG helicopters. The old golf course is popular with the deer, as well as a few dog walkers and Frisbee golfers. If I have the proper footwear, I'll cut across the course to the edge of the airfield to get to my house to pick up the car. Footwear is important as the NPS doesn't spray for sand spurs on their land around the airport. It's also worth mentioning that this house has a path through the dune. None of the houses in Frisco have a decked walkway over the dunes, but they're not too hard to cross on foot.

I admit that I haven't read all the posts. I'm a local resident and have rented in the Kitty Hawk area from 1975 to 1991 when we finally bought and moved here. Your price range is definitely available. The biggest inventory in this area is Joe Lamb, Atlantic, Brindley and possibly Sun. Now it depends on what you are looking for. In KH you are looking at 2 and 3 bedroom houses between 40 and 60 years old. Abolutely No Oceanfront Pools and very few Hot Tubs. Kitty Hawk just went through a Beach Nourishment project and the beach is beautiful. This message board is quite heavily weighted toward Hatteras Island and Duck to Corolla vacationers. The "Middle" (KH, KDH and NH) is not a favorite area of people looking for higher end rentals with every possible amenity or those that don't want much traffic. Same Ocean, Same Sand plus more restaurants, shopping and closer to Historical and entertainment acttivities. Good Luck
