I thought I would provide an update, since I asked about this a while ago. JBH, Coastal Roofing, and Gallop provided quotes.
Gallop provided a quote for a repair, and I also requested a quote for a replacement. I never got a response, so that company was out.
JBH looked at the roof and provided a quote, as did Coastal Roofing.
I went with Coastal, but the quote from JBH was similar and I could have gone with JBH instead. Both provided good detail.
The roof went up, I got the invoice for final payment as the work was "complete", and I paid it. I went down to the house a few weekends later to check up on it, and found a few issues:
1. Roofing materials and wood boards were on the front lawn, never removed.
2. A side gutter was detached and on the ground. This had fallen off and needed to be re-attached, and I was told it would be done as part of the work.
3. Diverters were not installed.
I sent a message to Coastal about those issues and the response I got was that the technician is scheduled to handle those items over the next few days. Fine, but why invoice me and would they have been done had I not asked about it? A week went by and the only thing that was done was a cleanup of the materials on the property. The same technician who discussed the roof conditions called me to let me know the weather conditions caused the delay with the other items. I appreciated that.
The technician called me yesterday to let me know the remaining work was done. I was glad to hear it and thanked him.
The initial customer service is excellent and response from the office person is prompt. The technician, perhaps one of the leads, called me several times and that was good. I don't like that I was sent the invoice for final payment, implying all work was done, but I discovered the work was not done when I was able to get to the house.
I would probably use Coastal Roofing again. My lesson learned was to not make the final payment until I can verify in person that all work is really completed.
