We ate at Agave Roja for the first time last September. We went back twice on our trip this year, once for Cinco de Mayo for lunch and then for dinner the next week. Quality still very high, service is great and food fantastic. Remains our favorite Mexican restaurant anywhere.

Agave Roja is always at the top of our list for where to eat when we're visiting. The tacos here are awesome. We haven't managed to work our way through the whole menu because the tacos are so good we keep going back to them. Every time we eat here, I spend the next week reading Mexican cookbooks trying to figure out how they make their food so good, but I haven't figured it out yet.

Living in Kitty Hawk I just don't drive 30 miles for dinner often. Some friends asked if we could join them so we were eager to try Agave Roja after hearing many many radio ads for it. The service was a little slow I am guessing because most of the young wait staff had gone after the summer season was over. It was just fine and we were in no hurry. I got the Chili Con Carne Enchiladas which was one of the best things I have eaten around here in a long time. The pulled pork filling was really good and the green chilies added a little bite. Perfect!! Everyone commented on how good theirs was too. Owner John came out to say hi so we met him and Steve. Great dinner - I will go back!!!!! Priced reasonably too.

Have heard a lot of good things about Agave Roja but never planned far enough in advance to get a reservation. Best Mexican food that we have had probably anywhere Service was very attentive and helpful. I had fajitas that were excellent. Wife had a pork shank that was humongous and so tender and juicy that it fell off the bone. Guacamole very fresh and tasty and salsa was almost gazpacho-like. Loved it!! Almost wish it wasn't so popular so could get in easier. Reservations almost a must unless you go early or later in the evening.

We were there in June of 2013 and going back in October ( next week ) the Ceviche was excellent as well as the Fish Taco's. We sat at the bar and ate and the bartender was very attentive and informative about the food. Drinks are top notch. Off season check as they have reduced hours.

Went there last october and we were very happy with the food and service. A family owned and operated [place with good food and good drinks as well.
