Our favorite restaurant to visit by far. Since I'm not much into cooking while on vacation we usually make a few visits during our trip to Hatteras. The Oysters Rockefeller are always a must for me and all of there soups have been consistently great. I tend to go with any of the specials they offer and my husband who is not much into seafood loves the pork, chicken parmesan and steaks. We have never been disappointed with any of the meals we've had there and usually leave with leftovers so it has always been well worth the price.

Food was good, but may have been slightly overpriced compared to some of the other restaurants we've tried.

Well, we finally made it to Dinky's. Great view, great food, excellent service. Mahi special was really good, shellfish trio was excellent, crab cakes were ok, everyone liked their food. Sonny boy ordered his pasta primavera with red sauce instead of butter sauce-an experiment he will not repeat. He thought his vegetables were kind of mushy. All in all, good and we'll be back! Oh, and thanks to the nice young man who assured me he would get me upstairs in the lift without incident. He was a really nice kid and his parents should be very proud!!!

Rating: CLASSY! TASTY! PRICEY! WELL, IT'S GOT A HOLD ON THE MARKET! 2/5/2013

If your staying in Hatterass Village, you will quickly realize your options are limited for dining out. I'll keep other recommendations aside and be straight - Dinky's has a fantastic menu and probably the classiest place to eat in the village. You will pay for that - but worth the price!

Rating: Wonderful if you want a little more upscale! 1/28/2013

The view is unbeatable. Well....Breakwater is just as nice. The food is delicious. It's a little more pricey, but worth it. If you are looking for a nice, upscale environment definitely give Dinky's a visit!

We make a point to go to Dinky's everytime we come down, even if it means a drive down from Duck for dinner. Although it can be a bit pricey compared to other restaurants, the food never disappoints. The steamed clams are a must have. Go at sunset for incredible sunset views with food that is equally as good.

This is one of our favorite restaurants. The Tuna Tartare appetizer is delicious. We usually order the fresh fish specials, which haven't disappointed yet.
This is not a large restaurant - so larger groups during the summer may have trouble gettin in.

We stopped by Dinky's after watching the fishing boats come in. We had cold beers and appetizers at the bar and everything was great including the wonderful view. We had a sushi appetizer and spinach artichoke dip, both excellent. The dinner food coming out of the kitchen looked great too, will try them for dinner next time.

Looking for somewhere new to eat this year. Went to Dinky's and we weren't disappointed. Lovely room with an awesome sunset view, although a little chilly. Food was very good. Two had crab cakes, two had special of the day, Grouper, another had Duck, and the final was shrimp dish over linguine. Crab bisque was also tasty. Will visit here again next year.

Rating: Amazing Rehearsal Dinner 11/6/2007

On September 27, 2006 at 7pm we hosted the wedding rehearsal dinner for our son. We had visited several restaurants on Hatteras Island and decided on Dinky’s for several reasons. We felt very comfortable working with Chef Gary. He listened to what we wanted and was eager and determined to meet our expectations. He had numerous menus to choose from and worked with us in selecting the menu we wanted. Gary also provided wonderful vegetarian and children menus unlike some of the other local restaurants.

We planned most of the rehearsal dinner via email and over the phone. We met with Gary a week before the dinner and knew that the dinner would be success.

At 6:45pm when guests started to arrive; pictures of our son and daughter-in-law were placed around the restaurant, the lights were dimmed, the view of the wonderful sunset over the sound and the smell of the food – it was only the beginning.

We had two waitress' Janell and Tyler and with over 50 people they took care of every detail. Not one element was missed when they served our five course meal; it was just absolutely wonderful. Janell and Tyler were outstanding! Their service was exceptional!

The next morning were heard many comments on how excellent all the food was. The only complaint was that there was too much!

If you want to have a rehearsal dinner with an intimate atmosphere, breathtaking views, an exceptional chef, superb food and friendly caring wait staff, Dinky's Waterfront Restaurant is the place to choose!
