Okay food - high prices 7/24/2014

Used to love the fish house years ago for cheap seafood on plastic dishware. They still have the plastic dishware but are now doing upscale. Food was okay - but we prefer other restaurants for the price.
Nice view though.

I stopped by this place last year, it was expensive and it sure was not authentic North Carolina seafood.

Not old time beach seafood 8/14/2010

Just got back from a trip down east to the banks. I read the reviews on here and decided to give it a try. It was a let down. If you want old time fried seafood then keep on truckin'. The crab cakes are rolled in potato chips. My wife and I got crab sandwiches, the kids got the children plates (blue fish was GOOD), we all got water and split a five dollar basket of 12 hushpuppies (outrageous!) at lunch with tip at over $50.00. For that price I at least expect real flatware, not plastic! I don't mind the price. I paid that for lunch today at the Fisherman's Wharf in Wanchese and we were all very satisfied.

This was a great find. Excellent service, friendly staff, food was terrific! We went for lunch and had flounder sandwich with fries and coleslaw - was excellent. Family of 4 had a large lunch and was under $35. Make sure to try the hushpuppies. We actually ordered extra to go!

Can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Every thing has always been great for lunch or dinner. We go several times every year, even when we stay in Rodanthe. Great food, reasonable prices, expect to do some waiting as it is quite popular.

We have always made the effort to get here for a meal at least once a trip. The seafood is fresh, the waitstaff is good, and the history of the building makes it very interesting. If you don't alrady know ask your waittress why the floor is sloped! And see the watermark from Hurrican Emily painted on the wall. Have an ice cold beer and some oysters. The Clam Chowder is wonderful!

Large servings of very good food. The service was very friendly and helpful. It would be a great place to bring children. Was there for Easter 2005 and will definitly add it to my favorite places to eat.

Just got back from Outer Banks and we ate at the Fish House. Very good food! I had fried shrimp and flounder and it was out of this world and I also had fried calamari, it to was wonderful. My whole family loved it and next time we visit the Outer Banks we will again eat at the Fish House. I think our waitress was Christy, not sure of name, but we had excellent service and very friendly.
