Great Anniversary Dinner 9/1/2015
Reviewer: beachlovin
Husband and I visited Flying Fish for our anniversary dinner and it was fantastic. My hubby chose Sweet and Spicy Thai Spread with Lump Crab and Pita Points for his appetizer and it was fantastic and there was quite a lot of it to share. I had the soup de jour which was crab bisque. It was hands down the best bisque I have ever eaten!!
For our entrees we ordered the Cioppino and the Filet Mignon. The Cioppino had loads of fresh seafood and a delicious flavor. The filet was cooked perfectly and served with real mashed potatoes and asparagus with a reduced red wine demi glaze. It was out of this world. Our only regret was that we were too full to order dessert. I'm certain they would have been just as satisfying.
Overall, we couldn't have been happier with the service or food. We will certainly return.

This place knows how to put a meal together. The service is great, they take reservations, great wine list, and the specials never disappoint. I've had everything from duck to scallops & would absolutely take both seafood lovers and non-lovers to eat here

The Fried Oysters with Spinach Quiche and Remoulade Sauce is amazing. I could eat it for an entree and I want the recipe for the remoulade. Love the coffees and desserts, too.

Great food with an interesting menu, personable service, outstanding wine selection, very enjoyable dinner every time. We always recommend Flying Fish to friends and cottage guests and visit ourselves a couple times each year.

I reviewed in it 2007 and I love it more today. The blackend tuna and filet are my favorites. Half price wine night is a must and they take reservations. Great place

A fine dining experience in a casual experience. Dishes were moderately priced and well worth every penny. We had the filet and sea bass, both excellent and unforgettable. Great service and wine selection. We will most definitely be back!

We are never disappointed in our meals here. George (the owner) is usually there and often seats guests. This place has an extensive wine list. The service is fantastic. I highly recommend this place for a nice (but not stuffy) dinner. There is a sample menu on their website. We had the seared tuna appetizer, for dinner we had a crab stuffed salmon and 10oz fillet. The vacation guides/coupon books have a $10 off dinner coupon in them.

Traffic jam 8/27/2007

I has a 7 pm reservation at Flying Fish last week. Traffic on part of the bypass was rerouted to the beach road at that time due to an accident. Traffic was slow. We didn't arrive until 7:20. We lost our table and the maitre d' was matter of fact in stating he gave our table away and could not accommodate us. This is one of the few instances where we have experienced other then warm hospitality from restaurant or retail personnel in the outerbanks.

Went there for the first time. Pricey but best Calamari I've had. Filet Mignon was wonderful. Large portions. Off season we were the only ones there except for another family. Used a $20.00 coupon found online.
