Beautiful location at Pirate's Cove overlooking the marina. I've been coming here for nearly 20 years. The food is excellent - I also highly recommend the crab dip as an appetizer!!

We visited for an early dinner (around 4 pm) on 9/14/06. We were sat immediately and informed our waitress would be right with us. We noticed there were only 3 other tables occupied in the restaurant. After a wait, the waitress came to the table for our drink order. She was slow returning with our drinks (just sodas and waters) and she took our meal order. She told us she would be back with fresh bread ,it was baking in the oven. No problem. She brought out our bread quite a while later. Still cold in the center! Our food arrived a little while after that, and most of our meal items were lukewarm. The waitress never returned to check on us, so we couldn't complain about the food. She returned and dropped off our checks. Even though there were 2 adults and 2 children on one check and 2 adults on another check, she still put on the "optional" 18% gratuity. I think she knew we were all unhappy. Too expensive for lukewarm food and super slow service. Our meal from entering the building to paying the bill was over an hour and a half....not because we eat slow either! :(

Really enjoyed the location, eating upstairs in the screened in area was great. Excellent Martini's and one good tasting Dolphin.

Going downhill..maybe two restaurants is too much for them? 10/29/2005

I have eaten dinner at Hurricane Mo's several times and it's never really been too impressive. Tonight, Mo's reached a new low level!
Entering, the hostess was taking us to our table when another patron, already seated, got her attention and started complaining about the smoke...instead of taking us to our table and coming back to deal with the problem, we stood there with her while she dealt with the anti-smokers. Strike one....
When the waiter finally arrived at our table, we ordered two beers. Simple enough. The beers arrived a bit later on.
The waiter took appetizer orders. I ordered a dozen steamed oysters. When they finally arrived (the cook was really busy the waiter said) there was no melted butter with them. Just extremely hot coctail sauce. At oyster number nine the waiter came back by and I asked for the butter. He got it to me for the last three oysters. Strike two.....
He took our entree' orders and my wife ordered a salad and the crab dip as dinner. I ordered the ribeye steak. My wife's salad arrived in about 5 minutes. My steak arrived in about 15 minutes. Strike three...
The baked potato was not cooked all the way and was not even warm enough to melt the butter I put on it....Strike four
The waiter asked if we wanted any dessert "this afternoon"....(it was 7:45pm) but didn't mention what desserts were available, and they aren't posted on the menu since they are "made in house and seasonal"...he asked this while walking away to do something else...Strike five....
He kept coming back to the table, wanting to take the check before I had decided how much to tip him......strike six!
We left and will never go back...to either one for that matter!

Great She-Crab Soup 10/10/2005

I had probably the best she-crab soup on the OBX at lunch here- and I have tried many others. We had a nice view, pleasant service and enjoyed it very much.

and was very impressed. Great food, great service, fair prices, and a nice ocean breeze.
It's just off the beach road near the KH post office.

One of my new favorites! Wonderful fresh seafood prepared a variety of ways. We like eating out on the enclosed porch, but inside is nice too. The bar is a happening place with SUPER mixed drinks. The best frozen drinks on the beach! The memorabilia of all the hurricanes on the Outer Banks, as well as some other old historical photos, is worth the visit alone. Check it out!

Was our first time there this Sept. When we walked in the hostess was more interested in her nails than seating us. We waited 15 minutes before getting a menue. Was on the verge of walking out when the waiter arrived. He was very appoligetic so I gave the kid a chance. They did have Pabst Blue Ribbon so they got some bonus points for that. We had appetizers, the crab dip is very, good and a couple of beers. Was later in evening so we didn't want big meal. Glanced over the menu, seemed real pricy. Wouldn't have wanted to pay that kind of money considering the service and this was off season. Hate to think of what it might be like in summer.

Nice spot-right on the waterfront across the causeway in Manteo. Good food, reasonably priced, very good service pushes this to a 4 star review for the lunch I had there.
