Not crazy about the cafeteria style ordering. Food took a good 15 minutes, but was pretty decent. Would have been better as hangover food (a little greasy). The grits were overdone (like mush). Waitress/cashier was adequate but not great.

food was great( try the crunchy monkey pancakes) It was also cool to read the sayings painted all over the walls to pass the time(not long at all) while waiting for your meal. I can't wait to go back next year.

We've been the last two years. Food is good. Only complaints are the tiny 4oz? or so juice cans they give you. I'd prefer a big refillable glass of OJ any day. Also, with the cafeteria style line, you feel rushed to pick something from all their choices so as not to hold up the people behind you. It would be nice to be able to sit down and browse a menu. But I can understand the setup in a small place like that and the need to get people in and out as fast as possible. I like Bob's Eat and Get the Hell Out over Stack 'em High, but it's still a quality pick for breakfast.

I have yet to have anything that wasn't good or didn't have enough flavor. Great plain old southern style breakfeast. You just can't ask for anything better. Have been asked if we moved down to the OBX because we were there so many times in a year. Good old family place.

You have to go to this place for breakfast. and if the line is out the door get on it anyway because it moves quickly. if there aren't any tables when you walk in, there will be by the time you order your breakfast at the cashier because Steve's mom will make sure there's a table for you. the best darn waffles anywhere and we've looked. The BEST Clam Hash, the Only Clam Hash on the beach. Steve puts something special in the waffle and pancake batter; something secret. And the t-shirts aren't half bad either. Keep it up STEVE.

Not in Point Harbor.
I think it is the best breakfast on the beach. I probably eat at the KH location 20 times a year. It is very popular with the tourists. You go through a cafeteria line to pick up fruit or juice or whatever, and order your breakfast and pay at the end of the line. They bring your breakfast to you at your table. Family groups of 8 or more are easily accomodated. Website:

Its got a bad summer camp feel to it. The fact that its crowded only highlights the need for more breakfast restaurants on OBX.
