None Available Specializing in burgers that weigh up to one-and-a-half pounds, Top Dog Cafe also serves steamed seafood, Philly-style steak subs, shrimp and oyster baskets, all-beef hot dogs, salads, and appetizers. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere, and you can choose to eat on the shady screened porch or on the sundeck. This establishment has a kid's menu and sometimes live music. Beer and wine are served. Open for lunch and dinner; call for hours and days.

You'll see my first review below in from 2013. Top Dog is still Top Dog! Great things need not change. Top Dog is a OBX tradition for our family and a must stop place for a meal. The first question my son asked when we crossed the bridge?? "When are we going to Top Dog?"

Saturday, July 18th,2015. Can I do a double review!! I've reviewed Top dog before, Great the first time 2 years ago,
Great last year and Outstanding again this year. Mahi Wrap Special, Hot and Fresh and Large. Quick service, great food all around. The wait and kitchen staff are excellent. I don't know how they consistently crank out the delicious food from such a compact kitchen.

2 thirds of the beachbumz climbed Bodie Island Lighthouse this morning. Worked up an appetite and stopped for lunch. Just opened so waitress was a bit slow on the start. Jamaican BBQ sandwich yummy though a bit sloppy. Caribbean shrimp wrap was very good. Then off to the beach for the afternoon.

The Top Dog is a traditional stop for us. We love the atmosphere, the menu, most everything about it. When on the island, consider the Top Dog a must!

Unique and quirky. A real big beach-shack, with that earthy island feel. We been seated upstairs and down and always a nice breeze blowin". Menu gives way to a surprisingly large variety. Jamaican Tuna wrap is spicy good. Usually a grilled Mahi item on the special board, large portions, never disappointed. Wait staff very good even when short staffed. Natural AC and galley stairs to the top floor.

One of the best places on the island. The atmosphere is awesome (laid back, outdoor theme, sun coming in through the screen doors) and the burgers are awesome. We always stop here for lunch during our stay, even if it means driving the extra 20 minutes from Avon. Wait staff is always extremely friendly. Definitely go here.

I have been enjoying OBX restaurants for 40 years, and this one has captured my heart! Wow!!! The mahi tacos are without rival! Great atmosphere...you know that you're at the beach! Wonderful!

We stop and have lunch here on the way down to our cottage. Great scallops and burgers. My daughter loves the big hot dogs.

I have been going to the Rodanthe area for years and always make it a point to go to the Top Dog at least once during my stay. I've never had a bad meal. It's a nice casual laid back place with great fresh food!
